  42.     The Layer dialog is the main interface to edit, modify and manage your
  43.     layers.  You can think of layers as a stack of slides or clothes on
  44.     your body.  Using layers, you can construct an image of several
  45.     conceptual parts which can be manipulated without affecting any other
  46.     part of the image. Layers are stacked on top of each other. The bottom
  47.     layer is the background of the image and the components in the
  48.     foreground of the image come above it.
